Virtual Testing Instructions

How to Submit a Virtual Test

Virtual Test Steps (32 x 10.5 in) (1).png

For each step, there are specific USFSA Instructions that must be followed. If the Instructions are not followed, your test will be rejected and / or need to be re-recorded. For the full list of rules, see the USFSA Instructions.

Registering For Your Test

Buy your test through Forestwood's Entryeeze. Our test sessions sell out quickly, and have limited availability. Be sure to register for your test when the test session opens to secure your spot.

Preparing for Your Test

Print and bring all necessary forms (placard, consent form, affadavit), and make sure you have space on your recording device. Bring a secondary electronic device (such as another phone, watch, or tablet) to capture the time stamp.

Make sure to dress in proper testing attire, as you would for an in-person test.

Recording Your Test

Once the skater is ready to test, begin recording along the boards at center ice in landscape orientation. It is recommended to turn your phone on Airplane mode and make sure you have ample storage to avoid distractions and faulty recordings. All videos must be 720p quality or higher.

Please Note:

There may not be more than 8 skaters on the ice during a virtual test.

The videographer must show the USFSA Placard and timestamp at the beginning of the test video.

Testing skaters must not be interrupted during the recording.

Skaters are not allowed a "Retry" during Virtual Tests.

Coaching during the test is only allowed between Skating Skills test patterns and between the Partnered and Solo portions of pattern dance tests.

Music used for the test, such as program or ice dance music, must be clearly audible.

Test videos can only be submitted once, to one test session.

Step 1

Begin recording in landscape orientation (horizontally). The videographer must be along the boards at center ice. With the skater close in frame and facing the camera, the skater's name and test should be announced.
The skater's full name, host club, test, and test session date (not the day of recording) must be shown on the placard. All tests without a placard will be rejected.

*Note: the date on the placard must be the date of the test session, not the date of recording.

Step 2

Show a time stamp with the date and time in clear view. This can be on any other mobile device screen, such as another phone, a watch, or a computer screen. All tests without a time stamp will be rejected.

Step 3

Record the skater as they perform their test. Hold the recording device still, and zoom in to keep the skater close and in frame. The skater must stay in frame during the entire recording. There should not be any outside distractions such as talking, shaky video, or loud music (if it is not a part of the test).

Step 4

After recording the test, while at the rink, fill out and sign all parts of the Consent and Affadavit forms. Be sure to have a proctor (who holds a position of power and is not affiliated with the skater) sign the form.

Sending in Your Test

Upload your test video, affidavit form and consent form to one folder in a shareable app and set the permissions to "anyone with the link can view". We strongly recommend using Google Drive as we are not able to download files or use YouTube links.

Rename the video to reflect the Skater's name and the test that they are taking.
For instance: "Sara Jones Bronze Skating Skills Test Video".

Attach the folder in an email addressed to support@forestwoodskatingclub.com, and CC your coach. Send only one email per skater.

We process hundreds of tests each month and this helps us to keep things organized.

There will be no refund of testing fees for any reason including missing the submission deadline or for the video being rejected due to not meeting the USFSA standards.
